GPS watchlists for asset finance: use location as an early warning, not a punishment
How hire purchase and asset finance companies in Ghana should combine GPS, arrears, and repossession workflows without turning every late payment into a raid.

Trackers are cheap. Processes are not. A blinking map that nobody owns is theatre. A watchlist that combines consecutive missed instalments, last-seen location, insurance expiry, and a documented notice — that is an operating model. Ghanaian HP companies that skip the notice and jump to recovery officers will pay in reputation and, eventually, in court.
Install trackers as a boarding step
If the unit can leave the yard without a working tracker and a photo of the install, you do not have a control. Make it a checklist item on the agreement, with a serial that matches the GPS vendor.
Alerts that a human can act on
Geofence plus arrears is useful. Geofence plus a paid-up customer is noise. Join GPS events to the schedule in the core. OrbitMFI's HP alerts are meant to sit on that join, not on a vendor portal your collectors forget to open.
Repossession still needs paper
A pin on a map is not authorization. Keep notice, manager approval, recovery officer, yard, and condition report in the vault. Location just tells you where to start.
