Payroll for financial institutions in Ghana: PAYE, SSNIT, and controls
Why MFIs and hire purchase companies should run payroll on the same platform as their loan book, with Ghana tax rules and audit trails.

Financial institutions are tempting fraud targets from the inside as well as the outside. Payroll that lives in a personal spreadsheet, disconnected from the GL, is a classic weakness. Ghana PAYE bands, SSNIT employee and employer portions, and loan deductions from staff facilities should post through the same books examiners already review.
What to automate
OrbitMFI's payroll module is designed for this industry, not generic HR. That is why it sits in the tenant admin portal next to financial management.
- Tax bands and SSNIT rates maintained centrally.
- Staff loan deductions that match the loan module.
- Leave balances that block unearned payouts.
- Branded PDF payslips with YTD figures.
Staff loans are not a side hustle
When employees also borrow from the institution, payroll deductions must match the loan module. A mismatch is how ghost deductions and ghost balances appear. Run PAYE, SSNIT, and staff facilities through the same books examiners already sample.
Payslips as a control
A branded PDF with year-to-date, leave, and loan balances reduces the HR queue and creates evidence. If staff cannot see their own deductions, rumours fill the gap.
