Core banking vs loan software: what growing lenders actually need
Loan origination tools are not a core. Here is how to decide when a Ghanaian lender should graduate to a full finance platform.

Many institutions buy a loan origination app, then discover they still need a ledger, savings, hire purchase, payroll, and BoG packs. The origination app becomes another island. A platform approach—one client, one ledger, many products—avoids that second migration.
Signals you have outgrown a tracker
OrbitMFI is built as that platform: origination, core, collections, HP, payroll, and compliance on one tenant. You can still switch modules on gradually.
- You take deposits or susu and reconcile cash by hand.
- Hire purchase assets live in a separate Access database.
- Month-end provisions take more than two days.
- Customers cannot see a combined statement.
- Auditors ask for a trail you cannot export.
The second migration is the expensive one
Institutions that buy a loan tracker and later a savings app and later an HP database pay three times in data cleaning. A platform approach — one client, one ledger, modules switched on over time — is slower in a demo and cheaper over five years. OrbitMFI is built as that platform.
Ask vendors about the GL
If interest in suspense, specific provisions, and cash collateral cannot post without a spreadsheet, you do not have a core. You have a CRM with a calculator. Demand a chart of accounts that a Ghanaian auditor recognizes.
