A two-day month-end close for Ghanaian MFIs and HP companies
A sequenced close: tills, MoMo, interest, provisions, payroll, and MPR extracts from one ledger instead of a heroic weekend.

Month-end in a well-run Ghanaian institution is boring. Tills already closed. MoMo already matched. Interest already posted on the calendar you configured. Provisions are a run, not an argument. The MPR extract is a button. Institutions that still live in Excel experience month-end as a festival of heroics.
Sequence it. Day minus one: unmatched items and open tills. Day one: interest, fees, payroll journals. Day two: classification, provisions, management pack. Do not start the pack until the first two are done — otherwise you will rewrite slides after the numbers move.
Interest and fees are configuration, not a spreadsheet formula
Reducing-balance, flat-rate, and susu interest must run from product rules. A finance officer typing rates into Excel is how two branches disagree. Lock the product, post the run, keep the log.
Provisions that match classification
If PAR 90 is in one file and the provision in another, examiners will notice. Classification should drive the provision table. Overrides need a named approver and a reason.
- No close with unposted tills.
- No close with unmatched Paystack or MoMo above a threshold.
- Interest and penalty runs before provisions.
- MPR and board pack from the same posted book.
OrbitMFI's bet
The GL, loan book, HP residuals, payroll, and BoG extracts share one tenant. Close is a sequence of jobs, not a reconstruction. That is the product.
