Collections
An early-warning playbook for keeping NPL below target
Combine product design, collections, and restructuring so NPL is a managed outcome rather than a year-end surprise.

Non-performing loans are not only a collections failure. They start with product design that ignores cash-flow seasonality, origination that overstates income, and a lack of early restructuring. A modern core should make each of those stages visible.
Three lines of defence, encoded
Credit policy and scoring are the first line. Branch managers reviewing exceptions are the second. Internal audit sampling the trail is the third. Software should make sampling easy: every override, every restructure, every repossession authorization.
Cure, restructure, or recover
Define when an account is eligible for a restructure versus a write-off path. Do not hide restructures by issuing a new loan that pays off the old one without a flag. Supervisors notice. OrbitMFI keeps the history so PAR and cure rates stay honest.
Seasonality belongs in product design
A farmer's cash-flow is not a salary worker's. If every product is a monthly reducing-balance clone, you will manufacture NPL in the hungry season. Allow frequencies and grace that match the real economy, then collect against that contract — not against a fantasy calendar.
Restructures that stay visible
A new loan that pays off an old loan without a restructure flag is how books look clean until they are not. Keep history. Supervisors will ask. OrbitMFI does not let that path hide.
